Privacy Policy

Heritage Inspires YYC is a campaign administered by the Calgary Heritage Initiative Society (“CHI”) a non-profit society registered in the Province of Alberta.

 

CHI is committed to protecting the personal information of our members and subscribers to our CHI and Heritage Inspires YYC email news. We manage your personal information in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act and any other applicable laws. Personal information such as an email address, name, telephone number or postal address is collected, used, and disclosed only to comply with the Alberta Societies Act (if you are a member of CHI) and for purposes consistent with CHI’s mission statement: “The Calgary Heritage Initiative Society (CHI) advocates to preserve and promote the productive use of buildings and areas of historic significance.”

 

In order to pursue our mission, CHI may at times apply for grants or funding from government or other non-profit agencies and may be required to disclose the personal information of current members to those agencies. We also use your personal information to communicate with you, with your permission.

 

If we plan to use or disclose your personal information for any new purpose, we will ask for your consent. We do not sell, rent, or lease our member or subscriber lists to third parties.

 

From time-to-time CHI hosts live events where photos or videos are taken. Your involvement with CHI implies consent to allow us to publish group photos of these events on our web sites and social media accounts. If you do not wish to have your picture posted, please contact us. CHI will not publish personal information, such as your name, without your consent.

 

Social Media Policy

The aim of our social media platforms is to encourage respectful debate, comments, and questions about heritage preservation in Calgary.

 

We ask that anyone engaging with our social media channels shows courtesy toward other members of our social media community. By engaging with our social media channels you agree to follow these guidelines.

 

Comments must not:

  • Contain spam, be defamatory of any person, deceive others, be obscene, offensive, threatening, abusive, hateful, inflammatory or promote sexually explicit material or violence.
  • Promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.
  • Breach any of the terms of any of the social media platforms themselves.
  • Be off-topic, irrelevant or unintelligible.
  • Contain any advertising or promote any services.

 

Breach of guidelines
We reserve the right to determine, at our discretion, whether contributions to our social media channels breach our guidelines. We reserve the right to hide or delete comments made on our channels, as well as block users who do not follow these guidelines.

 

We also reserve the right to send any comments we deem appropriate to law enforcement authorities for investigation as we feel necessary or is required by law.
